A LETTER TO YOUR EXCELLENCY VICE PRESIDENT (DARUSO-MUCE)  “You are taking it too far” , this was one of my friend’s insight when I shared with him this piece of madness . “And if you are not careful enough, you are about to mess it up” he added. This man assassinated my courage to post this; but after recollecting myself and observing how serious the subject is, I have decided to ignore my friend’s comments and I am writing this long letter to you, Your Excellency. Your Excellency, though this may sound skeptical to most people, but let us face it altogether. I am humbly asking you, right there you are; please turn your eyes, to the left and the right. How do you assess the kind of dress does the people you are leading wear? I knew that, most of us do not like this subject, this is just unfortunate, I always say what most people do not like, provided that, it carries some bits of ce...
DARUSO-MUCE; NOT FOR THIS INCOMPETENCE: Allow me to demonstrate my madness to you; let us face it that the wrath of my pen won’t spare you for this. Though our government is generally performing poorly, let us explore the Ministry of Education and Academic Affairs. I choose the Ministry of Education and Academic affairs because it forms what I call the “engine of our presence here”. I am very bewildered with the way things are being ran in this ministry. Come to think of it- group discussions are littered everywhere. We all know that there are prescribed venues for group discussions; the well known and perhaps authorized are the AH, CF, and LR7 . How on earth are some colleagues making discussions in rooms which are meant for private study? Seminar rooms, other Lecture rooms out of LR7 and sometimes in the Library or computer lab?! Writing directives and posting them on walls that people should not make “unnecessary” noise is such a remarka...

Free Thinking: Why’s Mr Head mum on IPTL?

This post by the iconic writer Nkwazi Mhango have impressed me so much that I feel it compelling to share it with the rest of my tiny important audience. Development in the Underdeveloped

The term ‘’Development’’ has been contended for a number of years. It can be simply asserted as the concept of both convergence and divergence. This means that, when the Tindiga of Dodoma defines or conceptualizes development, the concept will completely differ from that of an indigenous American economist. Consequently, the concept, ‘‘impedes thinking of one’s own objectives as Nyerere wanted; it undermines confidence in oneself and one’s own culture as  Stevenhagen demands; it clamours for management from the top down, against which Jimoh rebelled’’ (Esteva,2010,p.3). Therefore, this collective argument gives a clear preface and it introduces development as a concept of multiple definitions and theories; equally, this troubling concept can be traced far back time immemorial, but it gained momentum soon after the Second World War in 1945, the period famously identified as the turning point of the world history. Thus, in the 1950s various definitions and theories of  develop...

With the Coalition of the Willing Mayhem: The EAC is Threatened.

Katembo (2008:108) defines the East African Community as “the regional intergovernmental organization of the Republics of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi, with its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania”. He further adds that Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda were the original constituency members of the former 1967-1977 EAC. Later on 18 th June 2007, Rwanda and Burundi were accepted as new members in the community. The Coalition of the Willing is the tripartite alliance between Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. The agreement was signed in the Kenyan Commercial city, Mombasa in August 2013 by Presidents Uhuru Kenyatta (Kenya), Yoweri Kagutta (Uganda), and Pa...

I Crucified the Beast over A Hot Green Cross.

"Bring me the 10kg hammer and the seven 10 inch sharp nails so that I can tighten this beast on the cross", I said this to my friend while sweating and boiling with rage. No, that is not the beginning of the story...... it began this way.... It was yesterday, in the outskirts of  Dar es Salaam, at the famous place called mabwepande, what? is it mabwepande? oh no! its not mabwepande, just another area of the city I can't recall properly. It was almost 1800hrs when the sun's arrows illuminated the corrugated iron sheets of houses in this nameless street. The arrows of the sun shone bright like tongues of hundred lions aiming a single small healthy calf. We were just having a small walk along the streets with my friends. We walked along a certain small but very dense bush. The bush was beautifully covered  with red colored trees and a blue land. I asked my friends about the mystery of this land and they shrugged saying that they knew nothing. Several quest...
